Friendly Rivalry: In the anime and the stories that follow its continuity at least. This is moreso in the first stage play, as unlike their anime counterparts, the girls weren't particularly friendly to each other prior to being pitted against one another in the Revues. Fire-Forged Friends: Their duels in the Auditions against each other helped bring them closer together as friends. Most of their songs are even themed towards stars. Hikari's hairclip given to her by Karen is in the shape of two stars, the play they all memorably cherish is entitled Starlight, and they all aim to shine brighter than the stars above by becoming the Top Star. Coat Cape: They all wear red coats (except Hikari, whose coat is blue) with their stage combat outfits, though only on one shoulder. note "senbatsu", the same term popularized by acts like AKB48 used for members that are "selected" to represent the group The Chosen Many: The first stage play and its print adaptation The Show Must Go On refers to them (sans Hikari, who had yet to transfer at that point) as the "Selected Group". Futaba and Kaoruko are the first variant with Futaba as the Giver and Kaoruko as the Taker. 
All Take and No Give: Both types are present within class 99:.Adaptational Nice Guy: They're much less aggressively vicious and brutally competitive towards each other in the anime compared to their stage play counterparts and are depicted as being very close friends right from the beginning.

Adaptational Jerkass: They're all comically ruder and more mean-spirited in the Shoujo Conte All Starlight chibi series as they not only bemoan and whine over having to go through the Auditions again, they also go out of their way to either ignore Elle or disregard her completely while she's in their presence and make it clear to her that they're only going through with what she's doing because she won't stop crying until they compete.
Justified thanks to the anime's medium allowing them to fight much more creatively than real people could.
Adaptational Badass: They're capable of more impressive feats in the anime than in the stage plays. Due to this, they're looked up to by the other schools who see them as rivals they need to surpass above all. The Ace: As Seisho is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Japan, they are all considered the creams of the crop in the world of theater by default as only a handful of 30 talented students are selected from entrance exams each year.
